img 1The international CRAFT-(Capacity for Research and Advocacy for Fair Taxation) meeting was organized by Susashoner Jonny Procharavijan-SUPRO (Campaign for Good Governance) in association with Oxfam & Tax Justice Network-Africa at Hotel Sarina, Dhaka on 10-12th March 2015.
MA Mannan, state minister of finance and planning, attended the inaugural session as the chief guest while Snehal V Soneji, country director of Oxfam in Bangladesh, chaired the session. Martine van Hoogstratem, deputy head of mission of the Netherlands embassy, Conor Molloy, programme manager of Oxfam Novib, and Sandra Kidwingira spoke at the session. Ahmed Swapan Mahmud, chairperson of SUPRO, delivered his welcome speech while Dhana Ranjan Tripura, campaign and policy officer of Oxfam, moderated the inaugural session. In his speech, MA Mannan underscored the need for ensuring good governance in the country, though it is a difficult task. Different rules & regulations, made on taxation for private sector, are not for impeding them rather than facilitating them. He added, the govt. was strengthening measures to realize the Value Added tax (VAT).

img 1To strengthen SUPRO with adequate knowledge and information about People’s Centered Advocacy a two-day long training was organized from 28th February to 01 March 2015 at SUPRO STAR center with the participation of District Campaign Facilitators. Total 17 District Campaign Facilitators of SUPRO were the key participant of the training program. Among them 14 were male and 3 were female.

Through the training program participants learnt a number of tools and techniques of advocacy, campaign, networking and mobilization, substantive ideas on stake holder analysis, steps and principle of advocacy and grassroots leadership.

Total 17 national council members of SUPRO were the key participant of the training program. Among them 11 were male and 6 were female.

Through the training program participants learnt a number of tools and techniques of advocacy, campaign, networking and mobilization, substantive ideas on stake holder analysis, steps and principle of advocacy and grassroots leadership.
