SUPRO organized a Human Chain on the eve of International Women’s Day on 8th March 2016, Tuesday in front of National Press Club, Dhaka from 10.30 am to 11.00 am for Celebrating the Day on the theme of `Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step it Up for Gender Equality’.
Half of the world population is woman and it is not possible to reach towards inclusive development without all-round participation of women, and today’s young girls are future women and with this view the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day has been chosen as ‘ Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality’. SUPRO being a rights based organization showed full solidarity with the theme and organized a Human chain, Rally and discussion meeting to observe the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2016 across the country at national and local level (at 45 districts).
To aware and to orient the grassroots campaigners especially district secretaries SUPRO organized one-day-long orientation on using the digital tutorial in the budget advocacy into two batches for secretariat staff and district secretaries so that they can aware and orient the grassroots campaigners at their constituencies. The batches were held on 18 & 19 October 2015 respectively at STAR Center of SUPRO Office at Moahammadpur, Dhaka where 56 participants (male-46 female-10) from 43 districts and secretariat were attended. The sessions were conducted by resource persons from RedOrange and from the SUPRO STAR Centre.
During the orientation sessions they receive the clear idea and knowledge about the digital tools (Video & Website www.amartaka.org ). They also learn the techniques how to use those in the budget advocacy in practical field specially grassroots level. The participants share their different ideas and opinion and enriched the sessions with their different views during the open discussion session.
On the eve of national income tax day SUPRO organized a series of interventions in aiming to create public awareness & sensitize government service provider to serve the nation in pro people manner with the theme of “Tax Governance Ensures Development” on 15th September 2015 in national and 45 districts across the country.
The methods we used were mobile van campaign, rally, street drama, human chain, discussion meeting etc. Representatives from NGO’s, CSO’s, government officials, local government, students, academics & journalist attended in these events. In national level SUPRO arranged a day long mobile van campaign and attended in a rally organized by National Board of Revenue. Through organizing the national event a minimum number of 50,000 people make sensitize & get the campaign message by hearing the folk song, getting headband, leaflet & poster.
