img 1Budget Bisoyok Nagorik Morcha” (Budget Alliance Group), a forum with representation of 27 development and rights organizations  organized a press conference on 5 May 2014 at Sagor- Runi Auditorium of  Dhaka Reporters’ Unity. They pointed out following demands. Most of the organizations in the alliance have been advocating to prioritize poor and marginalized people’s especially farmers, laborers, indigenous people, physically and mentally challenged, dalits and women’s demand in the national budget process.

img 1To ensure participation of mass people in national budget cycle SUPRO organize a national seminar on October 06, 2013 at Press Club Conference Hall Room. SUPRO Chairperson Mustafizur Rahman Khan was presented as Chair and moderates the seminar. Md. Shariful Islam, Coordinator- Training and capacity building, presented the key note paper in this seminar. Professor Dr. Mahabuba Nasrin, DU, Ex NBR Chairman Abdul Mazid, Politician Mahamudur Rahman Manna and Oxfam representative Dhana Ranjan Tripura were present in this national seminar as guest. Dr. Nasrin told in her speech discussion or corrections of Budget have to conduct by mass people before implementation.

On 22nd June, 2013 SUPRO organized an advocacy meeting with MPs and the members of public estimate committee at OATH Room of Bangladesh National Parliament House.  In the meeting a discussion paper was presented which stated some pro poor demands and recommendation especially on essential services prior on education, health and agriculture sector. National Council Member of SUPRO, Madhob Chandra Dutta placed the paper in front the MPs. Earlier Director of SUPRO, Samia Ahmed addressed all. Arifur Rahman, General Secretary of SUPRO, delivered welcome speech where Mustafizur Rahman Khan, Chairperson of SUPRO, described the objectives of the meeting.  Abdul Awal, Executive Board Member of SUPRO, moderated the whole meeting.
